DDRUK REGIONAL QUALIFIER RULESHEET
Competition Rules:
There will be a £5 Entry fee for the regional qualifiers. The money will be used for credits if necessary, and the rest will be sent back with the tournament results to DDRUK for the use of buying prizes for the finals in October and funding the hire of the machine we will be holding them on.
General Rules
1. Each person can only enter one qualifier. 2. There is no need to pre-register for the event . People can show up on the day, as long as they arrive before the tournament starts and pay the entry fee. 3. All songs will be played in Versus mode, so if your chosen pads are having problems ask the staff to have a look at them before the tournament date. 4. Mods allowed in the tournament are limited to Speed Mods, Reverse, and Noteskin Mods. 5. There is no restriction on bar use. 6. Pad misses and similar errors are to be ignored unless there is an obvious machine malfuncion. In this case it's down to the judges discretion, and the judges decision is final. 7. Seeding for the tournament will be done before the tournament itself. A 'difficult' song will be selected at random for each region, and the judge will announce which song it is to the entrants on that day. People will seed in pairs, and once the scores have been recieved the judge will place the seeders into the tournament bracket in the usual opposite pairing manner.
Song Selection Rules
8. All songs will be played on expert or challenge, unless the difficult chart is of an 8 foot rating or higher, in which case that may be played. 9. The person who chooses the song also selects the difficulty, and both players are to play it on the selected difficulty. 10. Each round will consist of up to 3 songs. One picked by each player, and one picked by random by the machine if a 3rd song is still required. 11. To decide who picks first, a coin will be flipped at the start of each match, with the winner deciding if they want to choose their pad or song first. 12. If the winner of the coin flip chooses to pick the song first the other player gets to choose their the pad, and vise-versa. After the first song the players switch pads, and the other player gets to choose their song. After the second song they switch pads again, and a random song is picked. 13. A player may not choose a song that they chose earlier in the tournament, but they are allowed to choose a song that an opponent chose against them earlier in the tournament. 14. If a player fails a song that they picked then they instantly lose that song, regardless of score, and even if the other player failed first. 15. In the 1st round any foot rating may be picked, as long as it fits with rule 8. 16. If both players disagree with the choice of the random 3rd song for any reason, then it can be reselected upto 2 times, with the 3rd song being chosen no matter what. 17. In the event of a tie after 3 songs, single random songs will be picked on expert (or challenge, if available) until a winner is decided.
Scoring
18. The scoring will be based on the machine score at the end of each song. Due to the way SuperNOVA scores, this is deemed to be a fair way of doing things. If both players end the song with the same score, then the player with the highest combined Perfect/OK count will win the song. If it's still a draw, then neither player will recieve a win for the round.
Winner
19. The winner will get a trophy acknowledging them as champion of their region, which will be presented to them at the October Expo. 20. Qualifiers will be invited to participate in the UK Championship Tournament Finals at the October London Expo on Saturday the 25th October 2008. 21. If any of the qualifiers are unable to attend the finals, the next placed person from their region will be invited in their place. 22. The top 3 players from each region will each have one round on the same song to determine seeding order for the London finals. Seeding will be held on the song Xenon, with machine score determining seeding rank. The player who won the regional is guarenteed a place in the finals, and the seeding scores of all of the 2nd and 3d place finishers will be collected until the results from every qualifier are in. From there the top scorers will be invited to the finals, the number being invited being the number needed to finish the Final bracket. |
