Yes, it's true. I have not been on these forums in quite a while, but I've gone through quite a few discoveries, and through a couple loops, I've managed to not only dump textures from (US) DDR Extreme 2, but also have been able to rip the videos in original format.

The Videos are ~1MB elementary MPEG streams played in order. I made a tool to dump the 1M streams in order, but it is coded in visual basic, and therefore incredibly slooow.

The FILEDATA.BIN files are the same munge format they have been using for a while, but I was intrigued when a bin file played directly through VLC Media Player (skipping around the file of course). It was a dead giveaway when I found the word "TMPGEnc" following an Svag stream (Svag streams are the audio format). And best of all, they play nice and neatly in order.

Another promisinig discovery is that I have found a way to dump ps2 textures in their original resolution...

As most people know, PCSX2 in it's current state will execute and game from the DDR series quite well, albeit slowly. Combining this emulator with a cheat engine(the one called Cheat Engine, AAMOF) allows one to manipulate, and for me more than I bargained for.

A small feature called "Direct X Mess" is included with this cheat tool that allows some nifty DirectX modifiers, but the one I was interested in was Texture Dumping.

I loaded into PCSX2, attached the process to it, and started the DirectX Messer with a shortcut key F12 to dump textures. I was happy to see that in the corner it did in fact say "Texture Unlocked," meaning it was working. So, using an unlocked save file (I modified myself, of course), I proceded into the Free Play mode. After (not) selecting a character, I scrolled to As The Rush Comes (first brand new song). I then hit F12, and the computer froze and my video card crashed (that's the video card's fault, though, as it has bugs with texture access.)

After a reset, I was estatic to find several bitmaps in the folder containing the executable (for the emulator). Among these was CETEX39.bmp, a 256x128 bitmap, with, what I could not believe, a card for As The Rush Comes. A simple canvas crop to 256x80 (top bias), and this is the result:

Comments are of course welcome.

UPDATE: Split RGB Combine R=G G=B B=R (RGB-->GBR)

I have a television from 1984, so matching colors isn't all that good, and I'm colorblind, which doesn't help either.

UPDATE: A lot of them are done.

The Method Is Working As Shown Here:

I'll save you to trouble with the BG movies since I already have them done a while back. The only reason I can't share them yet is because I only have the preliminary songpack for EX2, which still has a lot of errors.
I think this community would benefit from the crisp images you got for the banners and BG images.

I have no idea how the Cheat Engine works and how to combine its processes with PCSX2. With a little enlightenment, I can get these graphics ripping like a pro. Great job AWal.

Nevermind, I love figuring things out for myself. Here's my first ripped banner. As for the color, it doesn't seem to fix itself by just adjusting the hue. I don't know what to do with it.

You know, now that I look at it, the colors on the As The Rush Comes banner are wrong, too. That's weird.

When I ripped interface graphics from my DS games they were weird coloured too... it must just be a case of changing the pallete perhaps?

And by the way, well done for working this much out :-) A lot of people are going to love you now, including me! :-)

Hey look. I know they look kind of crappy, but I did this quickly.

Rip the images, properly colored or not. Send me the uncropped BMP versions if you could, too. I can fix them.
