Arcade Fail = Fail during song

Note that "Only for Extra Stage" is not actually a valid setting for the machines.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I hate "Fail during song"! OK so it makes waiting lines move more quickly, but so would setting it to 2 songs per credit.

Apart from the playing time I lose, it's an emotional kick in the tender regions. OK I failed, that means I was doing something at my limit and trying my hardest, all I want is the chance to practise and improve for next time, not walk away with my heart still pounding.

Luckily not many machines around London have that setting, apart from one or two very important ones...

"Arcade Kill" sucks i agree.

i used to hate guitar freaks for that one reason (the game itself rocks hard!)

Havent seen many machines in London with it enabled though so you should be ok.

Solution: Get Better! lol

Depends really. What the machine offers. The during song fail works well for the extra stage because it will fail and give you a time which is how long you lasted. Where if you switched it off it will give you the time for the song.

With Autofail on you gain 2 player revive too, which means you can between you.. even though you both get E's still get though to the next stage.

Depends on your preference really. I may poll people about this :-) (so long as you change the topic there zinc!)

Cell: The ex is autofail in London

I wouldn't mind much if it was only for extra stage, because that's a bonus anyway. I guess that setting isn't available though.

an interesting (well, not really) story about that:
i was playing the ex in namco with a friend, who doesn't come on here and is about 4-5 foot level. so for the first couple of stages i play like, A, and then some other cool song, and then for the final stage i pick Sakura, he plays on light, i play on heavy, he fails pretty early on cos it's so fast, and stops to watch me. now at this point in time, i had forgotten that the machine is set to autofail, and i'm not doing so well, and my bar is almost at the bottom. so much so in fact, that i think i've failed, so i almost stop trying, but not quite, and manage to get to the last run, when i practically gave up, only to find out that it fails me on the 3rd last step. grr! i'm not blaming anyone but myself, but yeah, given the choice, i'd like to see autofail turned off, if only for the reason that i could see what PSM:O is like the whole way through, without failing on some part, and missing the rest of the song.

I personally love and hate stage break. I love it when there's a queue of townies on our local 5th mix, but i hate it when im trying a new hard song...how are you supposed to get better if the only time you can play it is on that very machine, but you never get a chance to see what's coming next?

Plus, it stops you from even thinking of trying a new song on anything bar your last song...for fear of wasting your money!

Yeah, I wanna practice PSM Oni but dont play DDR at home so the only time I actually see songs is at the arcade. Trying it last stage is very hard considering I dont know the song and the meter level is higher.

yeah, i have that problem, i've hardly played any of the other 10 footers arcade, only on my keyboard, so it's hard to adjust to moving your feet, not your fingers.

why can't you just ask the arcade people to put it on "fail at end" or whatever...I just might...but like I'll need it :-) the only times I fail a song now is on double cos I can't do them on keyboard
another good point of fail at end is it could only be a certain part which u fail at but the rest is easy....(eg. drop out...ok without the end bit aswell)
But come to think of it...I've been "fail during song"ing for all my DDR life!
hmm...I'll ask anyway....
I'm going to our place bowling alley (with 5th) to give george (he owns the place...HE GIVES ME FREE £s IF I'M STANDING BY THE MACHINE LOOKING POOR!) the tournament rules I was looking for in another forum....cos Orkney is gunna have a tournament! whoopie! When I get the date of it I'll post it in the tourney forum...of course if anyone from down south wants to enter they won't win anything cos this is a tourney for orkney to see who's the best in orkney (me..I know that already)...you can come and make us look bad...or freestyle :-)
so I might ask him then......to change the machine to fail after.....if you've forgotten what's I was meant to be talking about..

Myst- a poll would be good. "Fail at end of stage" could be quite useful since a lot of people don't get a chance to play the Namco Extreme very often.
