The good people at Positive Gaming have today released some information on their next big project, iDance!

I assume most of you who have been fans of In The Groove have been keeping up with this, but for those of you who haven't Positive Gaming have been working on the next evolution of 4 panel multiplayer dancing games, based off of their existing multiplayer system.

Quote:
POSITIVE GAMING(TM) iDANCE MULTIPLAYER SYSTEM
- Up to 32 simultaneous players using RF-based high range wireless
transceivers.
- Over 100 licensed songs from select artists of various music styles.
- A minimum of five step charts and difficulty levels per song, made by the
world's leading step chart artists.
- One, two or three simultaneous difficulty levels during play; an ideal
feature for groups with mixed skill levels.
- Four panels (Up, Down, Left, Right).

- 3D game engine.
- Real time scoring.
- Early-late timing indicator.
- Direct player feedback in all game modes.
- Simple and intuitive remote controlled interface.
- Interface optimized for both players and spectators.

- Regular software upgrades with new songs and features.
- Durable and light-weight wireless Positive Gaming(TM) dance platforms.
- Optional space effective transport and storage cart for up to 16 dance
platforms.

We already announced this at the PG EC 2008, but we again think it is important to mention that we are also working on an Arcade Version of Positive Gaming iDANCE which is planned for late 2009.

Also we have some more Songnames to release to the public:

Song - Artist
- Behind The Horizon - Daniela Elger
- Bollywood vs. Hollywood - Xaviaro
- Crocodiles - Cat Jahnke
- In The Hall Of The Mountain King - Digital Explosion
- Hardkore Of The North - Dr. Tanner
- Kleine - Shiki
- Million Feelings - Floren Cristea
- Party Hard - Neo Cartoon Lover feat. Daddy Boastin
- Tek Drum - Ryan Blair
- We Met Dat Night - Vospi

As the post says it's another multiplayer style game, so if you're thinking of buying it you're going to be looking at forking out for at least 8 or so of the wireless mats as well as the game (hope you've got a big games room!). I don't know where they'll be marketing it as arcades obviously won't be looking for anything like that (plus they've mentioned above they want to do an arcade release, which should be interesting on it's own!), but I assume schools and fitness clubs will be the aim, along with events organisers.

The results screens in the below pictures look good, but I'd like to know how the graph at the top works as it looks more than a little confusing at the moment. The stars on the results screen look to be the timing gradings, with Gold Star being 'perfect/fantastic', and the red one looking to be a 'miss/boo'. Difficulty goes upto at least 24 (with the '24 footer' having around 730 steps in), so we will have yet another new scale to learn with which to judge songs!

For those of you who want to do your own investigation, they will be showing off iDance at Leisure Industry Week in Birmingham in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna try to head along myself and get some information about it (and playtest, of course!). Anyone else?

And of course no news would be complete without some sexy pictures to look at. Higher quality rar available here (right click and save link as).

WTF, like I told Kris, those results screens look more like something off of Premier Manager than a dance game. How can anybody pose next to something that ugly?

And 7 Shiki songs? It's a shoo-in for Cold Breath and Sepia really, although I'd love to see a good file for Endless Dream.

Finally, how the hell do PG think they're going to get the "i" prefix past Apple?

ALTHOUGH: As with all games of this type, the real bread-and-butter of it all is the music and the stepcharts, so I'll hold off my final verdict until I've seen those.

Well there is the iRiver MP3 player which was released way after the iMac so evidently Apple have got to be slightly lenient over their trademark.

More like ITG. It's not just the Noteskin, the percentage and the Hallway mod give it away. Here's hoping it won't be a carbon copy off ITG...
