I think for me that's called "Versus Mode" at the local arcade's SuperNOVA 2.

Lots of ingame and stand footage, an interview with the managing director of Positive Gaming, and a wealth of general information coming... When I go out tomorrow and buy a replacement camera charger as I left mine at the NEC centre :s
Btw, new boss songs are tough.

PoP is right about your point of view on the game. People should really keep in mind that this is MP system meant for fitness.
but there are few collisions. the stepcharts in the game are done for AC/CS release and I hardly found any fitness/workout charts (but ok mostly played songs on difficulty 20-22). ITG Fitness had kind of cmod set on so you could play and not be bothered with stops, slow downs etc (I was like...this is the fearsome bloodrush??). idance does not have it in this mode we played on.
the interface looks "cool" for rich people looking at it and thinking of buying something new for their fitness/leisure whatever else centers. for the players for the time being it seems quite poor and also inefficient. not really good feedback. and well we couldn't synchronize with the game but it might be because of wireless interference, the lagging screen or the game itself...who knows
mines are bad - will be improved, freezes work probably as in PIU Pro...so how do you actually break a freeze or get percentage for it? (tick count probably). noteskin does not look that great, but it's not that bad either. believe me it looks better in gameplay than on the screenshots
stepcharts are mostly ITG like. not what I have expected. 24th are used in many songs. The songs are mostly trance and electronic stuff.
I still have to think about review on this game.

Dear Stsung
i am hesitant to accept your personal opinion as common opinion.
please do not try to represent other people on the fair, when so many told me how good the interface looks. The interface in fact has been designed by players for players and spectators. I refuse to accept your comment regarding "for the rich people looking at it".
There also is no such general thing as a "fitness" stepchart or and "arcade" stepchart. Believe me, we have worked for a very long time on finding about a difference on that and experienced a lot. All charts that could have qualified as "fitness" stepcharts, turned out to be very boring at the same time.
To clarify the thing about scrolling, speed and cmod: Positive Gaming iDANCE has auto-chosen speedmods for the different BPM, aswell as difficulty levels. It makes some form of "c-mod" possible, while exactly keeping the fun that stops or speedchanges can provide in a stepchart.
Also you might have noted, the game has songs that have stops on one difficulty level, and no stops at another difficulty. This is truly something new, as it removes a long-term limitation that stepchart artists have been confronted for ages.
If ou consider a review of the game, please make sure you review it after the final version is released, and not to spread bas energy to the public, based on an afternoon of playing a very advanced beta version.
Please try to not be so negative at so many times. It would be good to know, if the version of the game you have seen at the LIW, considering all the circumstances and information you knew about at this time, met your expectations, or not.
Also, cheers to all the people from DDRUK who stopped by and spent a fair amount of time with us.
Shoutout to Mike, Adam, Ian, and the other guys which names I just dont remember after this week of awesome.

I'll have a review up here in the next day or two. After that, I'll have a report and the details of the interview with Ole when I get a goddamn charger for my camera!

rodent: thanks for posting here. I might not speak (post) about idance anymore till I actually get the game...
what I meant might not be clear from what I wrote, but I used Ole's words and did not really mean this in a bad way. ok I might better delete this and not elaborate, but this does not really have a negative meaning...sorry guys for this.
my feelings about the game are more positive than negative for the time being.
auto-chosen speed mods are good thing, at least for me but most of the people just is telling me that this is a really bad mistake. it's much better than get yourself killed at 1x on CZ difficulty.
I have not yet written a review, just my feelings from the game and feelings of some other people as well as they told me what they think. players who played the game mostly have a good opinion and have faith in the project. those who have yet to see idance usually are those being negative and saying it is crap and that it will never be a good game. I will need much more time to judge the game and make my own opinion. I don't have my opinion about PIU Pro yet, and I play this game since December 07.
My overall feeling about idance after I played it at LIW is - the game is good. For me the interface looks good except that it might be too bright in songwheel, I had difficulties reading the song names. Reading notes in game is also well done. and countdown is well done. Feedback was sufficient for me. Good thing for me was also the fact, that player's feedback was shown next to the difficulty of the chosen song. (I guess you know what I mean). This makes it better for the player to see it and have an idea of his score and judgements. But believe me NX was the one saying all negative things about idance^_^. anyway I couldn't sync with the game...at all which was maybe the only negative thing I came back with. but that might be cause by a lot of factors.
Anyway I expected something different but you know what you are doing. After seeing amateur projects being done, played you can clearly see that idance itself is on a really different level. and that is good.
Stops at senior charts and not in easier ones - that's something some players are used to and take it for granted sometimes^_~ At least I do now. But yeah, that is good.
about the fitness charts, I think that you probably went through a lot of thinking about fitness/arcade charts or what to do so it would be simple for people to play "fitness mode". You know in ITG you can set simple on and there are cmods which were quite sufficient I think. I had in mind charts that are close to DDR 6-8 (mostly standard charts) but also heavy charts. A lot of charts just make you move at a certain speed, sometimes you need to step faster but you don't usually need to "slow down". what I mean upbeat songs with higher BPM and 4th/8th notes works well for this. but trance stuff with low BPM with a lot of chaos don't. --------------------------------------------------- EDIT: about the only negative thing I still have ....
the game did not feel right in some way. but mostly I guess this is caused by me not knowing how the game actually works. I know how DDR works on AC, playing it on SM or CS version does not feel right. As well ITG PC does not or any ITG SM clone, that's why I play ITG2AC on my notebook when it comes to that. idance is a dance game I yet have to understand and see what the normal behaviour is. like finding out the timing windows or when to hit the arrows, how the freezes work (what breaks them completely), how the scoring system works, what are mine areas, how do mines react and when they are hit. (because I did not step on mines in idance even though I WAS SURE to hit at least some of them = ninja lad 21)
I think this sums up my feelings? maybe. questions and pointing things out are always better than just letting me think how to write down something.
EDIT2: dancefreak noticed the "average" score thing. I think that this is nice for some people. and I'm not certain if it is a good thing for me or not. in IIDX I always play with BEST + Graph B so I can see if I get better or not, but in PIU I rather not see my score until the very end.
in ITG and probably idance having "realtime score" will probably demotivate me a lot and I would welcome an option of progressive scoring also. but anyway I can see that this scoring can be used to my advantage too.

Well im gonna give a few quick ups and downs about my experience with idance here but again ill post more indepth views later.
the positives:
+ The theme whilst looking lacking in the screenshots, actually isnt bad at all, its a bit difficult to read some artist names but its not confusing at least. + The noteskin, i originally thought this to be terrible but on close inspection you notice its actually very clear and easy on the eyes. + The new judgement system is good and makes it easy to tell if you're slightly or very early or late + the AVERAGE SCORE mode instead of the progressive was a good idea too.
The negatives: -The songlist seemed dull to me in a way, possibly because those who were running the stand made us play the same 4 or 5 songs all day long whenever they got in control, so i didnt see MUCH of the songlist but i didnt find much on there that seemed fun to dance to really. - The ratings on quite a few songs were just completely wrong but they did say this will be fixed in the final release so fair enough. - Stepcharts.... where to begin, i stepped hardkore of the north and bollywoodvshollywood in stepmania using some videos to give myself a closer look at what some of their authors were thinking... Hardkore of the north, ive tried my absolute hardest to find reasons why the song is as hard as it is, but the ending run should not be there whatsoever it should be 24ths and 8ths and the OCCASIONAL 16th and nothing else. whats more there is a high amount of double stepping in the chart which is one of the easiest and common mistakes in stepcharts made by people with little experience or feedback on their work. Also some charts, they gave several charts to one person, i.e. bolly/hollywood heavy and challenge both had the same step author. And i noticed in BOTH of those charts he completely ignored some of the most obvious rhythms and instead put arrows in that didnt sound like they went to anything, and yes i do have the correct mp3 for the song and im listening through good headphones and i still cant work it out, also the author who made that file again made a ridiculous amount of errors in regards to freeze arrows and double stepping, some patterns could not be played wihtout double stepping it was just physically impossible to do so and this does NOT make a fun chart especially when it flows for the rest of the song quite nicely.
-The background videos, im sort of undecided on this, they are plain and undistracting which is a good thing but also doesnt have any real character but then again its meant to be for a gym not for gamers!
Obviously i hope my opinions on the stepfiles changes as soon as i get more chart videos from mike to analyse and i hope when i play it next i get to play more songs than the same 5 or 6. i know i found summer in belize interesting but didnt get a video of it so i cant comment as well asi normally would do.
i will come up with a full review soon though this is just off of the top of my head and with what little media i have.
