Good afternoon fellow forumers! As the title gives away it's time for us all to give in to commercialism and share our joy over the birth of Jesus by sending comedic/rude/tacky greetings cards to one another in his honour.

Now a lot of you will have been trading cards with other forumers in this manner for the last few years, but some of you may not have had the chance to join in for one reason or another! Thusly, through the magic that is ctrl+c and ctrl+v, I shall explain to you how you to can grab yourself a piece of this delicious festive action!

Quote:

This idea sounds... well, unexplained! Tell me more Mike, Tell me!

Calm down! It's easy to do. Think of a Secret Santa, but with cards. All you need to do is pass some details onto me, wait for me to jumble up all the entrants, and then I'll send everyone back one random person who they have to send something to! A christmas card is the trendiest thing to send, but if you wish to add anything to it (money, trading cards, creepy photos of yourself) that's probably appreciated too! Memorable inclusions in the past have included glosticks, signed photographs, and various edibles!

Buy random people stuff? Why would I want to do that?

Because it's christmas! The time of goodwill and giving and that jazz. The knowledge that you have in some small way brightened someones Christmas should be enough! And if that's not enough, it's not a totally selfless act. You too will get to revel in the warm feeling of mystery that comes when you recieve a card from another random forum-goer.

How do I know you won't use my address for some freaky cult/pyramid scheme/stalking purposes?

I'm a mod, you can trust me :-)

Seriously though, your address will only be seen by me, and the person who is assigned to send you stuffs. Totally safe!

Hmm.... How will we get assigned to eachother then?

Well. That depends upon my mood. Could be names out of a hat, could be my magic 8 ball, could be some kind of crazy water divination. Either way, you'll all be randomly assigned to someone else, and all will be happy.

You say that, but I'm not from the UK! Can I still get involved?

Don't worry! In this modern day and age, postage for something as small as a card is tiny! You can still get involved and send to places around the world, providing you wish to. You just have to be quick is the only thing, as otherwise your card may not arrive in time for the big day!

I mean, if people really don't want to send overseas make a fuss about in your email and I can pair you up with someone with your own country. But sending a card alone won't cost more than £1/$2 or so, unless it's big or has a load of stuff in, so consider it at least.

Well. I like the cut of your jib, and the sound of your name Wildfireskunk. How do I signup?

Well friends, this is but a simple task!

Send an email to ddrukcardswap@googlemail.com with the header DDRUK card swap! or similar, and include...

DDRUK Username
Real Name
Address
Whether you want to stick to sending things to your fellow countrymen only, or if you're willing to be a worldwide adventurer!

Christmas is only (x) shopping days away y'know. How long do we have?

Considering time needed to buy things, personalise them, send them, and recieve them, I am going to say we have until the 15th November to get your info to me. Considering the rush last year I'm sure everyone will be happy to have the extra time to find things for their respective giftees. I'll dish out via both PM and return Email the details of who you need to send to, and I expect a reply to show me you have recieved the info! That'll give you a good few weeks to buy things and send them after finding out who you're sending things to, so there's no excuse for them not getting there in time for Xmas!

Cool! That's all done. Now what?

Now that I have your email, just wait until the 16th November and expect a reply around then with the person you're gifting to. Then get thinking about what amusing things you could write in their card, or send with the card, based on who you get!

I shouldn't need to say this, but obviously only signup if you're really going to do it. We don't want anyone going without recieving something because some people couldn't be bothered to send Xmas cards!

Also, once you've recieved yours, contact me and tell me that you have, so that I can see who has an hasn't recieved theirs :-)

So in short...

1 Email me your Address, Name, and DDRuk Username to ddrukcardswap@googlemail.com by the 15th of November.
2 Await the 16th of november for an email and PM saying who your mystery person to send to is!
3 Send your stuff off and then await your own!
4 Have a happy Xmas!

Use this thread to discuss, and to ask questions. Posting you're going to do it in this thread isn't good enough for me however, and I won't add you to the list without an email!

Ah the joys of copy and paste... Well, those are the rules anyway. As I said earlier, there's a few more people here than last year so I'm hoping the numbers will have upped and we get a nice big collection of people sending little envelopes of goodwill around the world this year!

So... what're you waiting for? :-)

I was lucky enough to have a christmas package (and not just a card) from cardmagician the other year, it was rather awesome xD

Looking forward to sending out random crap again this year though! :-)
