First off, apologies to all for my lack of information regarding anything so far this year. I've been offline far more than I should have, but I'm back now! So to business.. A few things are already planned for this year, so I'll start by explaining them!

UK DDR Championships

Yups, as you all probably expected October will see Rob defend his title against a swarm of challengers. Before this though, people will need to fight their way there. Qualifiers are mostly planned, but in a similar manner to last year I'm going to ask if anyone thinks there's call for a qualifier near them. A list of current locations is below, but if anyone thinks they could gather say, 8+ people to a local machine that is in good enough condition for a tournament, PM me! I'm always open to more :-)

Current qualifiers will be held at - Portsmouth, London, Birmingham, Essex (maybe!), Loughborough, Hartlepool, Scotland, Ireland.

The entry fee has risen to a shocking £8, but this year we're using Round Robin rules, which will mean everyone gets to play more games. It'll all make sense when I post up the rulesheet, worry not. Until then, I recommend you get training! And watch this space for a more detailed announcement in the coming weeks.

Clarence ITG Tournament Weekend

ITG over here doesn't really get the love it deserves. Our lack of machines is probably a good reason for that yeah, alongside the condition some of them are kept in. With that in mind, I've decided to host a great ITG tournament on one of the spangliest machines available to the public over here! Of course I can only be referring to the machine in Clarence Pier, Portsmouth. Beginning on the 25th April, the tournament has been on the cards for a couple of months now, and it's looking to be a good one! Running over 2 days, I'm hoping for a 32 man double elimination tournament using ITG1, 2, 3, Rebirth, and a few customs. There'll be prize money on offer, as well as a good weekend in awesome company. And probably drinking since Realathlete runs a local pub :-)

So, interested? Head over and join the facebook group for specific rules, information, directions, and local accomodation. If you're interested in ITG I suggest coming along, as tournaments like this don't happen too often.

DDR Team League

Well, what can I say about this? Sadly, it didn't take off. Lack of signups stopped it from really going anywhere... I was looking for a minimum of 6 teams to run it, but didn't even get that. I still want to do this, and am still accepting signups as such so it can be done in the future.

Those are the main things from me so far. I've a few more things planned, but they'll be mentioned closer to the time. Surprises are good!

I'm not the only one doing things though. Wellian is holding another Goldrush tournament this May! All the info can be found in this thread about it, but if you happen to be in travelling range I'd recommend heading down there for a day of fun.

And for those of you willing to travel a little, Positive Gaming officially announced the European and World ITG cups today. You can read about ithere on DDR:UK, or head to Positive Gamings new message board to have a chat with the rest of the European crowd who are likely to be going.

And that's about all to report on the tournament front from now. Any questions? :-)

Sweet - any ideas on the seeding song this year?

Also, for the qualifier in Birmingham; I don't recommend using the Bowlplex SN. The last I heard the machine is in pretty bad shape :/

Would you be hosting the Qualifiers on the same machine/mix? If so, how do you plan to get SN to Loughborough? :-)

Anyways, Im up for the UK DDR Qualifiers. Im definitely up for Portsmouth ITG Tournament. Also, Im not missing the ITG EC09 in Amsterdam for nothing! UK represent!

I'm still up for the team league, but sadly not many people share the same passion for a team :-)

Im already with every facebook group for the respective tournaments etc :-)

But the timings are extremely different, so that wont be as fair tbh.

For the finals seeding song, the song will be announced later on ;D

Due to the fact that the qualifiers will be held on different machines in different places, I'm looking at a different way of getting the seeding song done due to potential timing disputes. There's a good chance that it won't be played on the same day as the regional tournament though.

The qualifiers themselves can be held on different machines though, and that won't matter since none of the results will be compared to any other qualifier, so any timing differences won't affect anything.

No they arent? They are exactly the same, the only difference is syncing and what songs are available and lets face it all syncing on supernova randomly changes depending on how long the machines been running for! I.e. playing xepher when a machines first turned on is slightly late but playing it after its been running for 10 hours for some reason it seems INCREDIBLY late so the whole arguments null and void anyway!

The only thing to consider is if someone used say a fusion cabinet or an em2 cabinet which doesnt have the correct songs for doing a seeding.

Why do i get the vague feeling of deja vu here, didnt i argue this exact same thing last year and the year before but with different people ? lol
