Joystiq reports that Activision has finally confirmed officially to them today that Guitar Hero: Van Halen is indeed in development.
Following on from Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Metallica, the game will feature songs from Van Halen themselves as well as additional songs provided from the likes of Weezer, Queens of the Stone Age, Blink-182, The Offspring and Queen with others to follow.
No song list or details of any additional features are given as of yet, but the game has been given a release date of the second half of this year, so expect more details in the coming months.
